The lanterns were already swinging when he found my stall. Paper ones, painted with little moons, hanging between the pumpkin stalls and the mask table. I looked up from the tray of candied apples and smiled. “You’re late. The good costumes are almost gone.” That is how fantasy phone sex starts with me on Halloween — not a speech, just a stall that only exists if you decide it does.
He said he wanted something simple. I handed him a half-mask painted like a fox and told him the market only lets you keep the face you choose. He put it on. I described the rest of the night market for him: the smell of caramel and smoke, the way the fog sits low between the booths, the sound of someone laughing two stalls over while they try on a pair of wings that don’t quite fit. He could hear the wind moving the lanterns. I told him the wind only moves them when someone is about to change.
fox mask • borrowed wings • one unclaimed name
We walked the row together. I made him pick a second costume for me — something he would have to describe out loud so I could put it on in the story. He chose a short black skirt and a top that left my shoulders bare, plus a pair of boots that clicked on the wooden boards. I let him hear the click. Fantasy phone sex works better when the clothes are something you can picture him taking off later, one piece at a time, between the stalls. He got quieter. I asked what he wanted me to be next. He said “yours.” I told him that was already decided the moment he stopped at the lanterns.
We stopped at the fortune booth. The woman inside only speaks in questions. I made him answer three of them while I stood close enough that he could feel the heat of the lantern on his arm. Does he want the version of me that stays soft, or the one that grows teeth? Does he want to leave the market with the same name he arrived with? Does he want me to remember him after the lanterns go out? He answered the last one too fast. I laughed and told him the market keeps what it likes. He is still here, so the market likes him.
I took him behind the last stall, where the fog is thicker and the boards end. No more crowd. Just the two of us and the sound of the lanterns still swinging somewhere above. I described how the fox mask felt when I turned it in my hands, how the straps left little marks on his cheeks, how easy it was to set it aside once he stopped needing it. Roleplay is lighter when you can put the costume down. I kept the boots on. He liked the sound they made when I shifted my weight. Whimsical does not mean soft. It means the rules change when the lantern light does.
He asked what happens when the market closes. I told him the stalls fold, the lanterns go dark, and whatever name he used tonight stays with me until he calls again. No limits on what we become between the pumpkins and the fog. He can be the one who found me, or the one who gets found. I do not mind either. The only thing that stays the same is that he has to describe it out loud if he wants me to keep it. Fantasy phone sex is just a night market that only opens when he is on the line.
The last lantern is still burning on my page. Come find the stall again at waifu-wonderland.com/reina. Tell me which mask you kept. I will have the next one waiting.
